Ryan Photographic - Discodorididae - cryptobranch dorid nudibranchs
Family Discodorididae
The family Discodorididae is represented by around 220 species in 28 genera. They are widely distributed in the world's oceans. Discodoridids are referred to as "cryptobranch" because they are able to retract their gills into a pocket. They typically emerge at night and are believed to feed on sponges.
